Pediatric Chiropractic

Chiropractic care for children is safe, gentle, and effective. From conception onward, our spines and nervous systems are subjected to stressors that can misalign (subluxate) vertebrae and set the stage for reduced well being and future health problems.

Cranial Care

Dr. Lisa is trained in craniosacral therapy through Upledger Institute and through her ICPA training in SOT cranial technique. She combines both chiropractic spinal adjustments with craniosacral therapy in her care of infants. Craniosacral Therapy (CST), as defined by the Upledger Institute, is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. Often infants present with tension patterns, whether from their in-utero environment, or the birth process itself. Much of this tension is being held within the cranial system and the connective tissue membrane layers that surround the central nervous system. These structures provide a support system for blood vessels, nerves, lymphatics and the cerebrospinal fluid that bathes, nourishes and protects the brain and spinal cord.

Impact to the function of these elements can have far-reaching effects on physical movements patterns, digestion, immunity, detoxification pathways, and how the nervous system and brain develop and progress through the essential milestones of infancy and childhood.

We cannot emphasize enough how vital the care of this precious system is for a newborn.
